Activity 2) Overview of the meeting.

In the last meeting,we discussed how we can develop a positive

behaviour towards our children and everyone in our life.

As we know that CHANGE IS NEVER EASY,The first difficulty that

comes to us when we start to change our behaviour is most likely to be

ANGER.

Which is why today we are going to Understand Anger, Causes of

anger, Benefits of Anger and

How to create a state of mind when there is no anger.

UNDERSTANDING ANGER

1.ANGER IS A CHOICE OF RESPONSE.

॥ हमें गुस्सा आता नहीं है, हम गुस्सा करते है ॥

For example :-

When someone superior(elder in age or position) than you yells at you

or does something that makes you angry or frustrated, you become angry

but respond nothing(may it be fear of losing your job or losing your relation

with your elders).

On the other hand, when someone inferior(younger in age or position)

does something that makes you angry, You respond quickly and end up

scolding them or punishing them for their mistake (may it be small or big).

Sometimes, the anger of the superior is transferred to the inferior by

yelling or punishing the inferiors.

Therefore , Anger is a medium of expressing our feelings by our own

choice.

We can change our ways of expressing anger or better to say

Understand the situation with consciousness not out of rage.

2. Anger is a sign that something needs to change.

Mostly, Parents become selfless and spend most of their time doing

something (directly or indirectly) for the betterment of the children.

But as we discussed that balance is important and everything needs

to be done in a limited manner.(Remind the parents if they agree)

Selflessness leads to expectations and unfulfilled expectations lead to anger.

Doing nothing for yourself results in lack of confidence in future.

Do what you like to do or what is good for your health, Future etc.

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF ANGER

Maybe we have noticed or not, but when we are angry, We are

mostly energetic.

This can be understood by the following example…..

Normally, you rarely think of fighting or quarreling with someone

superior to you.

But if the same superior tries to harm your children or family, then you

try more than your level best to protect your child or any family member no

matter how powerful your opponent is.

If any such incident has happened as per your knowledge, You can

understand that Anger can create Energy beyond our beliefs.

That is why, we should use that energy to change things and situations

in a positive way.

Anger is not bad, if directed in the right way -

Anger Awareness

Anger awareness means to …………..

Understand and react.

Not to react and understand.

For example :-

If a Sushil’s father asks him to do the practise and homework given by

the school, but Sushil does not read or write at home, his father will get

angry without any doubt.

Now Sushil’s father has two options…

Number 1-- He can try to find out why sushil is not reading or writing

at home by talking to him and find out the problem, then decide whether he

needs to be given a punishment or he needs help in reading or writing.

If Sushil’s father does this, Sushil will feel comfortable around his father

and will feel free to talk about his problems in future.

Number 2--He can immediately conclude that Sushil is trying to avoid

studies and punish him right at the moment. This will reflect negative

energy into Sushil’s mind and he might not feel comfortable around his

father. This can also indulge arrogant behaviour in Sushil & mind.

✪ THAT IS WHY, REGULAR COMMUNICATION AND POSITIVE

BEHAVIOUR IS IMPORTANT.

⥤⥤HOW TO BE AWARE OF ANGER???

Answer 1) We can be aware of our anger by taking a pause to think

whether to react wisely(समझ के) or aggressively(गुस्से से).But this way is

temporary in nature and can be used to control anger for a little period of

time..

Answer 2) Meditation is the method to be aware of our thoughts including

ANGER.

That is why we must need to practise meditation regularly.

Being in Control and being aware of our reaction can slowly but

surely develop a state of mind when there is No Anger .

Activity 3) Discussion

✪ Opening questions :-

1) What do you do to control your anger?

2) What are the consequences if we react instantly out of rage ?

3) How can we use the energy that is experienced when we are angry?

4) Which type of meditation do you prefer?

5)

✪Discuss and note other problems that parents can face while practising

anger management :-

Activity 4) Follow up questions.

✪ Opening question:- What can be the problems related to anger

management?

1) Lack of time:- Maybe parents may face the problem of lack of time to

practise meditation or to talk with their kids.(Social workers and

school head can try to explain that the future of children is more

important than their ego of superiority to talk to children)

Solution:- If you don’t get enough time to meditate, try this simple rule of

time management--Sleep one hour early to wake up one hour early.

Note other questions asked by parents:-
